In the beginning...

...there was me... A chick who couldn't cook...

A Girl who survived on takeaways and eating out at restaurants and who consequently paid (is paying...) the price by ending up with a distended waistline and a depleted bank account.

So, said Girl decided that she would learn to cook! According to a celebrity chef, cooking at home and serving healthy dinners to captive children in educational facilities would solve Britain's growing problem of obesity. Why not then Girl's own growing problem? After all, not being able to fit into half the contents of one's wardrobe could not, surely, be shrugged away as water retention!

Surely cooking could not be that bad, Girl reasoned. After all, said celebrity chef made it look so easy! So, mind made up, armed with utensils and hazy recollections of a sultry brunette churning out chicken pot pies with languid, voluptous grace, Girl decided to dive into the world of simmering stews and sautéed shrimp. This is her journey...
